Monepantel is being used to treat cancer in sheep.
PharmAust, an Australian company, has been researching the repurposing of a sheep dewormer, monepantel, to treat dog cancer. Veterinary Kim Agnew is the principal investigator of the study which is focusing on lymphoma and is being conducted in New Zealand, Australia and Texas. The results of the trial are promising, with the monepantel helping dogs "hold steady" in their cancer and supporting their life quality without the need for chemotherapy. Monepantel is also non-toxic and can be administered at home. The study has shown promise in treating other cancer types, and Kim will be returning with more updates in the future.
